capacity and readiness to always defend the weak and the
oppressed. Its helps sustain one's martial spirit and the

No. Though the founder of Sikhism, Guru
Nanak Dev, was from a Hindu family, he himself rejected
the Hindu religion, setting the founding stone for the Sikh

warrior/militant people?
The Sikhs by nature
are a peaceful people. Due to past persecution by the
Hindu and Muslim rulers the Sikhs were forced to take up arms in
there defense. Sikhism has a strong martial history but are by
no means a warrior/militant people. A Sikh can only move
to war, in the self-defense of the people.
